After a frightening and confusing confrontation in Napa, the Roadside Paradise troupe continues on their circuit, allowing Athena very little time to come to terms with how drastically her life has changed. Suddenly having a deity under her control still seems in the realm of impossibility, and brings out fears she struggles to overcome.
But Roadside Paradise continues on with V continuing to take targets and grow stronger, but the troupe faces a difficult decision when a young girl flees onto the grounds of Roadside Paradise in the middle of the night. She is an escapee from the Guild of the Red Dragon—the organization that collects those with magical powers to be trained as weapons. Taking the girl immediately under her wing, Athena is determined to keep her safe.
The troupe faces the difficult decision of fleeing the circuit to return to safety, or risk retaliation from the Guild of the Red Dragon by remaining in the open so that V can continue to get stronger by taking on targets in Sin City.
Athena must walk the tightrope between protecting her new charge from another abduction and acting as V’s contractor to grow his power so she has a chance to recover her sister from the clutches of the Guild.
